We Pivot’s mission is to create conditions where the most marginalized individuals are included, fulfilled and empowered resulting in a more diverse tech industry. We are a young non-profit organization with a city-based chapter model and a distributed board of directors. We Pivot is at an exciting time of growth and we are looking to add key members to our board to help us design and implement our next phase.
Responsibilities of the board
As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:
- Overseeing the mission and vision of the organization and ensuring they are upheld at all touch points within the organization
- Strategic and organizational planning
- Overseeing the organization’s finances
- Fundraising and resourcing for the organization
- Establishes policies and practices for effective management and operation of the organization
- Supporting the development and implementation of chapter programs
Responsibilities of Individual Board Members
As a growing organization, our board is actively involved in the operations of the organization. Board member responsibilities include:
- Understand and promote the organization’s mission and vision
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization
- Engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission
- Participate in board meetings
- Chair or participate in at least one board committee or working group
Time Requirements
This group meets every two weeks. As an active board, board members are committed to 2-4 hours per week of work. No travel is required for this role at this time. All meetings are remote via video conferencing.
The length of term for each board member is two years. Board members are eligible for re-election.
Qualifications
We are seeking individuals who are first and foremost aligned with our values and mission. Experience working in the tech industry, non-profit operations, and/or a previous board of directors role for an NPO are a plus.
